March 17, 2025 – We have received confirmation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) regarding the visa exemption for individuals born in Iraq but holding foreign passports. According to a recent communication from the KRG’s consular office, the exemption remains valid for the Kurdistan Region, even under the new e-visa system implemented across Iraq.

This exemption applies to individuals who were born in Iraq but hold a foreign passport (such as Canadian, U.S., or other recognized passports) and the children of Iraqis born outside of Iraq. They are still eligible to enter the Kurdistan Region without the need for a visa, provided they are traveling with at least one Iraqi parent.
